- Provide recycling bins for paper, glass, plastic and cans.
- Use emails where possible to save paper, ink and delivery costs.
- Installed water and power saving devices to make all our buildings energy efficient. Purchase locally and in NZ where possible.
- Use environmentally friendly, New Zealand made, cleaning products.
How You Can Help - Reduce, Re-use, Recycle
- Use our recycling bins.
- Turn off appliances when not using them.
- Re-use your towels – hang them up if you do not require them to be changed. Use washing lines rather than the dryers.
- Use the Walkway, bicycles and public transport as much as possible. Re-use brochures and maps or return them to reception.

Reception Hours
Our reception hours are: (7 days a week)
March to November
8am-6pm
December to February
8am-8pm
Cold drinks, ice creams, tea, coffee, sugar and milk are some of the items we have for sale at reception. If there is anything else you may need, please ask.
In our reception we have many flyers for you to help yourself to. We are also very good at recommending good places to eat, shop and explore so please ask any of our friendly team for advice and assistance.
Accessible Bathroom
We have an accessible/family bathroom situated at the far end of D block.
Alcohol
Alcohol is only permitted on your site, cabin, or deck. Please don’t walk around the park drinking alcohol.
BBQ
2 Gas BBQs are located at the covered outdoor area at A block. There is also a BBQ located at D Block.
Behaviour
Behaviour in the park must be respectful, considerate and family friendly. Use your common sense, and if there are any issues, let the duty manager know.
Bikes
Bikes are available for hire from Chaddy’s Charter’s down at the port, or at Cycle Inn which is 133 Devon Street East.
We also offer secure covered bike storage – ask at reception for the security code.
Check Out Time
Check out time is 10.00 am. Late check outs may be arranged in advance depending on availability and time required. A surcharge may apply.
Damages & Breakages
Damages and breakages that are not reported and/or are a result of vandalism will be charged for.
Emergency Procedures
Evacuation assembly point is outside the Central Hall which is located near the front entrance. Please see evacuation notices in cabins.
EV Chargers
We have EV Chargers on-site available for EV Cars & Campervans. Our cabin guests who have an electric vehicle can, on occasion, use these but booking is essential as they are located on powered sites. They will not be available between 25th December & January 15th each year. Please ask our friendly reception staff for more details.
Electrical Warrants
Electrical Warrants are required and must be current for all vehicles connecting to Belt Road Holiday Park’s power.
First Aid
First Aid supplies are available at Reception, and we can access an AED (automated external defibrillator) if needed.
Fridges & Freezers
Fridges and Freezers are available in each communal kitchen. Please write your name and departure date on all items and remove your items before checking out. Park staff may remove items not named/dated.
Hair Dryers
Hair dryers can be borrowed from the reception during our opening hours.
Help Us By
Please wash and dry your dishes before leaving.
Please turn off all lights and heaters that are not needed i.e. when you are not in the unit. This helps us conserve energy.
Internet
Internet is available via the network “Belt Road HP”. Once connected, you’ll need to login via the HQ WiFi Portal. You’ll get a password for complimentary data when you check in, and if you need more, data packs can be purchased through the portal.
If you are having any issues with the WiFi, our receptionists may be able to help or you can call the help desk on 0800 479 434.
Kitchen Facilities
Kitchen facilities are available at each amenity blocks and are accessible with the door code 24 hours a day. Please be respectful of other guests and tidy up after yourselves.
Laundry Facilities
Facility blocks A & D both have a laundry.
Payment is by paywave card and there are instructions on the machines. The price including surcharge is $5.25 per wash and dry. Laundry powder can be purchased at reception for $2.00 (2 x washes).
Pegs can be borrowed from reception or purchased for $2.50 during office hours. We encourage the use of the clothes lines which are by C block and B block.
Noise
We ask that all our guests are respectful and quiet from 10pm until 7am. (Some discretion on New Years Eve)
Parking
Parking for one vehicle is available outside your cabin or within your site boundaries. Please do not park on other sites or in other areas of the park. Additional vehicles can be parked in the public carparking outside the park boundary and along Belt Road.
Please park in the allocated spaces only. If your allocated space is occupied or you need additional parking, please see the friendly team at reception.
Pets
Pets under 10kgs are welcome on some of our sites from 7 February to 20 December at a rate of $5 per pet per night by prior arrangement. They must always be kept on a leash around the park, must be tidied up after and are not allowed in or around any of the buildings including cabins, amenity blocks, and reception.
Playground & Trampoline
Children are to be always supervised by an adult. The trampoline has a maximum of 2 people at a time on it. We accept no liability for anyone making use of the playground or equipment. Please inform our team at reception immediately if you find any part of our playground or equipment damaged or faulty.
Rubbish & Recycling
We encourage recycling. Recycling bins and Rubbish bins are found by each of our ablution blocks. The blue bins are for cardboard and plastic and the small black bins are for glass. Your assistance is appreciated.
Servicing Of Rooms
All units are serviced daily with clean tea towels and dishcloths and, where applicable, towels, hand towels and bathmats. Please refer to signs in rooms that only towels etc placed on shower floor will be replaced.
The units are serviced, but not cleaned unless requested. Our team will respect your privacy and omit your room from servicing if your curtains are closed.
TVs
Your TV should be tuned to receive Free-view, which includes TV1, TV2, TV3, Prime, Maori TV and several other options.
SKY TV
SKY TV is available in our Breakwater Lounge located in Block D. Please note this Lounge is locked at 9pm and reopened at 8am daily.
Showers
Showers are available at each amenity block and free to use. Please help us to conserve water by limiting your shower to 5 minutes.
Smoking & Vaping
Smoking and vaping are strictly prohibited in all cabins, park buildings and public spaces including the playground and decks of amenity buildings. Please ensure all doors and windows are closed if smoking or vaping outside your cabin and please be aware of other guests.
Speed Limit
The speed limit entering and in the park is 10 km/h (walking pace) at all times. Be aware of cyclists and children.
Uber & Deliveries
If you are ordering UBER Eats then please keep an eye on your delivery and meet your driver out the front of the Park. Delivery drivers are not allowed to enter the park and all deliveries and pick-ups are your responsibility.
Visitors
Visitors are allowed between 9am & 6pm and must sign in at reception first. All visitors must leave the park by 10pm.
If visitors are on site for more than 2 hours a charge of $3 per head may be charged.

Breakwater Bay
Breakwater Bay is a group of businesses at the Lee Breakwater end of Port Taranaki. We encourage you to spend some time to visit and explore this area during your stay. There is a range of eateries, activities, shops and services for your convenience. No need to drive as Breakwater Bay is located directly below the park and is less than a 5-minute walk away.

Restored English lifeboat one-hour cruises. Enjoy the fresh air and view marine wildlife in their natural habitats. Chaddy's Charters runs daily but is weather permitting.
The Seaside Market
Held at the beautiful Ngamotu Beach, Ocean View Parade. The Seaside Market hosts over 70 stalls showcasing local businesses, crafts, clothing, jewellery, decor and more. Held fortnightly on a Sunday, from 9 am-2 pm.

Great fish and chips, fish caught locally.
The Bach on Breakwater Café
Open Wednesday to Sundays, for a great coffee or meal.

Non-members are very welcome for drinks and dinner. Super family meals.

What To See & Do
New Plymouth Coastal Walkway
The region's crown jewel, the award-winning Coastal Walkway, is a 12.7km seaside trail that doubles as an open-air art gallery. Stretching from Port Taranaki to Taranaki Cycle Park in Bell Block, it’s perfect for walking, running, cycling, scooting, or skating. Along the path, you can admire sculptures and artworks that harmonise with the rugged coastline and crashing waves. Cyclists must wear helmets and follow road user rules, and dogs are welcome on a leash.
Lake Rotomanu and Te Rewa Rewa Bridge
Located along Clemow Rd or directly on the Coastal Walkway, Lake Rotomanu is a perfect stop on your way to Bell Block. Enjoy a leisurely walk around the lake or pause for a relaxing picnic. Nearby, you'll find the striking Te Rewa Rewa Bridge, which spans the Waiwhakaiho River, connecting Bell Block with the city. The bridge’s design is inspired by the rich history and mythology of the area. On a clear day, you’ll be treated to stunning views of the iconic bridge perfectly framing Mt Taranaki.
Pukekura Park

TSB Bowl of Brooklands

Todd Energy Aquatic Centre
Tisch Avenue
The Todd Energy Aquatic Centre is a premier swimming complex located adjacent to the Coastal Walkway, accessible via Tisch Avenue. The centre features indoor pools, lane swimming, outdoor pools with diving boards (summer only), hydroslides, a wave machine, water features, a spa pool, tots pool, sauna, steam room, and an onsite café. Open daily.

There are many other tasty places to dine in and around New Plymouth, too many to mention them all, but drop into reception and ask for our recommendations. The main centre of town is only a 15-20-minute walk along the Costal Walkway.

Surf Highway 45
Around the coast
Stretching 100km along the coast between New Plymouth and Hāwera, Surf Highway 45 offers breathtaking views in every direction. With stunning beaches and world-class surf breaks like Back Beach, Oakura, Kumera Patch, Stent Rd, Opunake, Mangahume, and Kaupokonui on one side, and majestic mountain vistas on the other, this drive is a must for surfers and non-surfers alike.
Mt Taranaki / Te Papakura o Taranaki
Mt Taranaki offers three main entry points, each providing access to walks ranging from ten minutes to several days. The North Egmont Visitor Centre (accessible via Egmont Village) is the closest to New Plymouth and serves as a gateway to the Pouakai Circuit, known for its stunning mountain views at the tarns, or as a starting point for a summit climb. The centre also offers short walks, bathroom facilities, and a café.
For winter snow access, East Egmont (accessible from Stratford) is ideal. The Wilkies Pools walk, located near the Dawson Falls Visitor Centre on the southern side, is another highlight. To reach the iconic reflective lake view, begin your hike from the Mangorei Road end carpark—it’s a 4-5 hour return walk to the tarn.

Located 30-40 minutes from Fitzroy Beach Holiday Park in the foothills of Mt Taranaki, Pukeiti Gardens is a vibrant display of rhododendrons and other exotics set against lush native rainforest. The gardens offer a variety of walks ranging from 35 minutes to two hours. Families can explore the Kids Treehouse Trail, featuring treehouses and activities, while visitors can relax with coffee or lunch at the Founders Café or enjoy the rainforest tracks. Open daily with free entry, there’s something for everyone at Pukeiti.
