SUSTAINABILITY....Caring for our environment
Our goal at Belt Road Seaside Holiday Park is to preserve the magnificent environment that we live in and maintain the stunning natural beauty that we see all around us. We believe in protecting the beautiful environment of Taranaki that we call our home and enjoy, and want to ensure that both our children and your children and grandchildren, can visit and enjoy it too.
One of Belt Road Seaside Holiday Park Core Values is:
"we care for our people and our place"
We will try to actively reduce any adverse effects through buying wisely, using resources efficiently, disposing of waste responsibly and providing an environmentally and socially responsible experience to our guests.
We believe in Manaakitanga and Kaitiakitanga - caring for, protecting and managing our beautiful slice of New Zealand.
We must carefully manage our impact today giving thought also for tomorrow.
We invite you, while you are traveling through our special place to help us take care of it. We hope you enjoy your experience with us.
What we are doing....
- Recycling -
- Recycling stations are located in our park and recycling bins are in our units to encourage guests to responsibly dispose of their waste.
- We recycle items in the office too, paper, envelopes, stamps for schools, ink cartridges etc.
- Using emails where possible to save paper, ink and delivery costs.
- Energy and Water Savings - We are endeavoring to make all of our buildings energy efficient by installing energy saving devices.
- Dual flush toilets.
- Replacing lighting with energy efficient light bulbs.
- Water reducing taps in bathrooms.
- Reminding you to 'switch off' appliances and lighting when not in use.
- Eco Heaters in the units have a lower wattage.
- Offering a towel change agreement which ensures you are helping the environment by reducing energy and water use.
- Purchasing locally, which helps reduce carbon emission from transport.
- Buying from companies who have an environmental commitment.
- Buying products made in New Zealand.
- Buying products in bulk to saves money, time and packaging.
What you can do to help....
- Recycle your rubbish, sort it correctly at our recycle centers
- Conserve water and energy by:
- Switching off all lighting and appliances when not in use.
- Limit the amount of time you spend in the shower.
- Being careful not to overfill the kettle in your room - use only as much water as you need.
- Re-using towels instead of having them replaced each day - hang them up if you'd like to reuse them or hang them on the line to dry. Put old towels, which need a wash, on the floor. Your comfort is of great importance to us, so don't feel guilty if you need to change your old towels!
- Use washing lines provided rather then the dryers.
- Using the Walkway, bicycles and public transport.
- Reuse brochures, bring them back to the office when finished with for the next guest to use.
Thank you for taking the time to read this. If you have any feedback on any of these items please feel free to talk to any of our staff.
